GRAND FORKS — Jack Kernan, who played on one of UND's top lines last weekend, sat out Friday's series opener with Arizona State with an injury.

Instead of shuffling the lines, UND slid forward Tyler Young into that slot.

Young was one of UND's late-summer pickups out of the NCAA transfer portal. The winger who tallied 11 points in three seasons at Merrimack was still available in late July.

"We undersold," UND coach Dane Jackson said. "We didn't over-promise. We said, 'Hey, Tyler, we don't have a great opportunity right away. You're probably going to have to battle your way in. You're probably not going to get starts right away.' He said, 'Hey, that's fine coach. I totally get it. I'm just looking for an opportunity.'"
