LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) -There’s a new attraction in Lawrence County for Route 66 enthusiasts.
Located south of Miller at the intersection of Highway 39 and Highway 96, this sign is expected to draw visitors for photo-ops as they travel the Mother Road.
Those who helped make the new monument a reality encourage tourists to interact with it, pointing out that the sixes are perfect for reclining.
They also hope it highlights the history of Route 66 in Lawrence County.
“Route 66 is special because of the people involved with it and the people behind it and the stories that live on through it,“ said Brittni Bates, Director at Mt. Vernon Area Chamber of Commerce. ”I’m excited that the people of Lawrence County will get to tell their stories because of the Route 66 connection."
