Santa Fe art and real estate mogul Gerald Peters and his wife, Kathleen Peters, are once again fighting off creditors.
This time the couple is trying to prevent their pastoral Pecos-area fly fishing ranch from being auctioned off on the steps of the district courthouse in Las Vegas, N.M., next month.
The Peters are expecting a multimillion dollar payout on a pending FEMA claim that will provide more than enough money to pay off their debt on the property, they argued in an application for emergency relief filed Monday in state District Court in Santa Fe.
