House lawmakers have a laundry list of legislative priorities to focus on now that the government shutdown battle is behind them.

Because the lower chamber was out of session for over a month, the next few weeks will be critical as lawmakers try to make up time and negotiate an annual defense policy bill, address the soon-to-expire Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies and pass appropriation bills to avert yet another possible shutdown at the end of January.

Accomplishing these tasks won’t be easy in a divided Congress and razor-thin GOP majority.
