Temperatures are set to take a tumble across the state today. We’ll see a sharp drop, from highs hitting 60 degrees in some areas this afternoon to struggling to reach into the 40s on Sunday.

Then we’ve got lake-effect snow in the forecast for the northern half of the state. Several inches could stack up in our snowbelt areas of the Upper Peninsula and the northern Lower Peninsula, including a band from Gaylord down to Roscommon.

“Sharply colder air will help kick off the lake effect snow machine late tonight,” the National Weather Service meteorologists in Gaylord said today. “Healthy snow bands are expected for Sunday, into Sunday night.
