Actor Richard Gere says he and his family are living their dream life since moving from Connecticut to Spain last year, but there's something he misses about his home country that he can't find anywhere else.

Gere said he moved to Madrid with his wife of seven years, Alejandra Silva, and their three children because he wanted her to have the experience she gave him.

"For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends, and her culture," Gere told Vanity Fair España. "She was very generous in spending six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I spend at least another six living in hers."

The 76-year-old "Pretty Woman" star said he and his bride are "happier than they've ever been."

"She is, because she is home, and I am because, if she is happy, I am happy," he told the magazine.

However, in a recent interview, Gere mentioned that there's something he misses about the US that he can't find in Spain: New York City's energy.

It's “very addictive," he told People.

Gere, who had lived in the New York area since he was 21, said the vibe is something you can never shake.

"New York gets in your blood. It's very hard to remove that," he told Fox News. "... But I love Spain too. I love Madrid."

Gere previously owned a home in Pound Ridge, New York, that he sold for $28 million, and his 32-acre New Canaan, Connecticut, estate sold for $10.75 million.
