BUFFALO, N.Y. — The YMCA Buffalo Niagara’s William-Emslie branch brought Western New York residents together Saturday for its annual Day of Giving, an event designed to provide both immediate holiday assistance and longer-term support for local families.
With Thanksgiving less than two weeks away, the event offered free turkeys to help households prepare for the holiday, along with winter clothing and emergency food kits. An on-site job fair was also held, giving attendees an opportunity to connect with employment resources while preparing for the colder months ahead.
Organizers said the goal was to go beyond a single act of holiday generosity by providing a wide range of services.
