Virginia Tech came up short on the road Saturday night, falling 34–14 to Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. The loss dropped the Hokies to 3–7 overall and 2–4 in ACC play, while the Seminoles improved to 5–5 and 2–5 in the conference.

After both teams opened with a scoreless first quarter, Florida State broke through with a 36-yard field goal by Jake Weinberg. Virginia Tech responded immediately, putting together a 10-play drive capped by a four-yard rushing touchdown from quarterback Kyron Drones to briefly take the lead.
