Who’s that girl? Here is a correction that’s long overdue.

In 1946, the Beacon Journal misspelled Angelina Merendino’s name in a photo caption. Even worse, we repeated the mistake in September when we republished the image to illustrate an article about readers’ memories .

The black-and-white photograph shows a 9-year-old girl lifting a pint of milk over her head to place it on a stack of hundreds of milk bottles. Nearly 80 years ago, a photographer mistyped “Angeline” on the back of the print.
