The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is urging UK households to remain vigilant as a new energy bill scam is sweeping the nation.

Currently, the Warm Home Discount is helping Brits pay their energy bills, with £150 being applied directly to the monthly cost.

However, scammers are taking advantage of this benefit by contacting people directly to ask for personal information.

On X, the DWP warned: “Have you heard about the Warm Home Discount Scheme? If you’re eligible, the £150 credit will be automatically applied to your electricity account.

“If you get a call asking you to apply for the discount, it’s a scam.”
