Two Edinburgh police stations were closed as Police Scotland worked through a scheme consulting on which sites across the country should be shut for good.
The force has been accused of abandoning communities as it closes more stations while opening fewer as part of its Estates masterplan, which has put 35 at risk.
Officers have complained that a lack of beat police and falling officer numbers have left them unable to properly police the streets. Some buildings acquired by the force are also not fit for purpose.
As reported by the Scottish Daily Express , Police Scotland has announced in the last two years that 18 stations across the country would be closed, despite only opening 13 in the past five years.
Two stations on opposite sides of Edinburgh have been shuttered since last year
