An announcement from the Ford government about the selection process for Niagara’s next regional chair could be looming in the not-too-distant future.

“We’re working on that with the minister (Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Robert Flack),” Premier Doug Ford said. “We’ll make that announcement sooner than later.”

The premier was in Grimsby Friday afternoon at the opening ceremonies for the new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

The event was held more than a week before patients and staff move into the new facility.

When asked by Niagara This Week if there was any chance the regional chair position would be elected at-large by Niagara residents, Ford gave a one-word answer: “No.”
