Ontario Premier Doug Ford called it the fulfilment of a promise made to west Niagara in 2018.
Ford was on hand to help cut the ribbon at a grand-opening event for the new $224-million West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby Friday afternoon.
“We said we have to get this done for the community because I’ve never seen a community so entrenched, so excited, so involved and wearing their heart on their sleeve saying we need to get it done,” said Ford following a brief tour of the new hospital’s emergency area.
The event was held in advance of the actual opening of the new facility on Main Street East, which is slated for Nov. 24.
Ford said when his government took office, annual health-care spending in Ontario was about $61 billion and his government has boosted that to about $91 bill
