CHICAGO (WLS) -- A suspect robbed a South Side convenience store before carjacking a woman in the parking lot on Saturday night, Chicago police said.

Police said it happened at a store in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood near West 79th Street and South Racine Avenue around 8:45 p.m.

The suspect, a male of an unknown age, entered the store and stood in line. Police said when the cashier opened the register, the suspect implied that he had a weapon before jumping over the counter, taking money and running outside.

The suspect ran into the parking lot, where he got into a 33-year-old woman's blue SUV, police said. He demanded that the woman get out of her vehicle before driving off with it, heading westbound.

No injuries were report
