TOLEDO, Ohio — One hundred people went home to their furry friends on Sunday with a free bag of pet food.
Lucas County Canine Care and Control hosted their first pet food pantry at their new location on Sunday morning.
People who receive SNAP benefits were eligible for 15 pounds of dog food. Cat food was also available.
The event came after LC4 reached out to the community for help with dog and cat food donations.
The flood of donations allowed them to open the pet food pantry.
"For us to be able to help people keep their furry family members at home, it's such a big part of what we do,” said Cassie Bloomfield, Community Outreach Coordinator for LC4. “The only way we can make this pantry happen is with donations, so we're so appreciative of everyone who is so generous and willing to
