TOLEDO, Ohio — Major changes are underway at the Toledo Museum of Art as leaders begin what they describe as the most extensive renovation the institution has seen in 40 years. The upgrades, they say, will modernize the galleries, improve accessibility and ultimately reshape the visitor experience.

TMA Executive Director Adam Levine said the 113-year-old museum building has undergone periodic updates, but this next phase is expected to be transformational.

“By the time it’s done, the Toledo Museum of Art will be the model museum in the United States. Our visitors will love it,” said Levine.

Levine says the project will overhaul the appearance of the galleries and, once complete, reorganize artwork chronologically from antiquity to modern day.
