WALKER, MINN. (Valley News Live) - A Cass County sheriff’s deputy was shot and a male suspect was killed Sunday evening during an exchange of gunfire following a foot pursuit in rural Walker, authorities said.
The incident began at 4:37 p.m. when the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting gunshots heard near residences in the area of Old Agency Drive and Onigum Road Northwest (County Road 13) in Turtle Lake Township, Sheriff Bryan Welk said.
Deputies responded to the area and began investigating. A short time later, deputies attempted to contact a male subject walking in the 8000 block of Onigum Road Northwest. The man fled on foot, prompting a pursuit.
