Mayor of Kingstown creator and star Hugh Dillon has unpacked why Ian almost kills another major character, revealing the purpose behind his attack. In Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 4 , Ian (Dillon) almost kills Evelyn (Necar Zadegan), dropping a brick on her car from above an overpass. She survives, but winds up in the hospital because of her injuries.

In a pre-release interview with ScreenRant 's Liam Crowley, Dillon and co-star Laura Benanti, who plays Cindy, explained how Ian believes " Mike has blind spots " in Mayor of Kingstown season 4. Because Evelyn is investigating Ian for Morrissey's death, the cop believes his actions are justified. He also explains he wasn't trying to kill her, but to scare her into dropping the case:
