A South Jersey firefighter has been recognized by Wildwood officials for his “ outstanding life-saving actions ” while on a flight.
Nicolas “Nick” Palmer, a firefighter in Wildwood, was traveling home from Florida when flight attendants requested medical assistance for a passenger in distress.
Even though he was off duty, Palmer stepped forward to help the passenger. His immediate response helped to save a life, according to a social media post from city officials.
“Nick’s actions are a perfect example of what it means to be a Wildwood firefighter,” Steve Mikulski, the city's commissioner of public safety, said in a news release . “Even off duty, his instinct was to act.
