A man who was arrested following a serious assault in the north-east has been released pending further enquiries.

The incident that left one man fighting for his life happened at around 3.15pm on Friday (November 14) outside a business property in the Harrow Inn Close area of Elgin.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and a 55-year-old man was taken to hospital.

His condition which was previously described as critical has now been confirmed to be stable.
