Martin Lewis has offered guidance following an unexpected increase in the energy price cap. From the beginning of January, energy bills will rise for millions of UK households after Ofgem, the regulator, announced a 0.2% hike.
This means that the average annual dual fuel energy bill will rise to £1,758, up from £1,755. The move came as a surprise as many experts had forecasted a slight decrease.
Mr Lewis attributed the minor increase to a mix of policy and network costs. He also provided advice on what steps people should take next.
He said: "The best move for most people is to get onto a comparison site like www.cheapenergyclub.com and find yourself a cheap fix (though im hearing a couple of cheaper tariffs may launch next week so you may want to hold until then) they're about 10% less
