Red Cloud Community Schools

A Red Cloud school secretary said “It’s not my job,” according to a complaint filed with the state, when staff couldn’t find a missing 6-year-old first grader who was locked alone on a school bus for over an hour while four employees dismissed responsibility for his safety.

An investigation by Local4 reveals failures at every level: the bus driver didn’t do safety checks, the monitor said the child wasn’t her student, the secretary didn’t call parents, and the principal failed to ensure policies were followed. Now, Red Cloud Community Schools won’t tell parents what changes they’ve made to prevent this from happening again.
