The City of Daytona Beach has about 280 city-issued credit cards, and one city commissioner says it is time to take a closer look at how they are being used.

When WESH 2 News stopped by the city auditor's office on Friday, the auditor said he had not started the P card audit yet. He will soon request access to all those records. Once the audit begins, he said, it is not clear how long it will take. The timeline will depend on what he finds and whether anything appears suspicious or requires outside review.

City Commissioner Stacy Cantu recently raised concerns after reviewing charges on city purchasing cards, known as P cards.

"Why are we paying for contractor employee training? Why are we paying a cell phone bill for $144 a month when the city already has bulk accounts?" Cantu asked.
