Apparently, even our supposedly more liberal and compassionate state and local governments in Maryland are beginning to mirror the coarseness of the current federal administration in the conduct of official business ( “Turkey pardon is just weird; Wes Moore’s ‘IDGAF’ initialism; is Washington joyless?” Nov. 17).

From Gov. Wes Moore’s Pete Hegseth-like “IDGAF” response to an interviewer’s question regarding congressional redistricting to the DOGE-like logistically cruel layoffs of part-time employees of the Baltimore County Public Library ( “Baltimore County Public Library reverses course on eliminating 14 part-time positions,” Nov. 14), we have seemingly jumped into the proverbial “race to the bottom.”
