UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As interim coach Terry Smith fought through tears halfway through his weekly presser after breaking Penn State’s six-game losing streak with a 28-10 win over Michigan State, the message he sent to the world was all too clear: “This place is special. It's amazing.”

The Nittany Lions have seemingly found a stride and continue to improve week by week, and with the possibility of a bowl-game nod on the horizon, Smith addressed how the team has fought to rewrite the narrative, the support he’s received and what it means as the season nears its end.
