Perth County council members may be getting pretty hefty raises.

On Thursday, councillors will discuss a recommendation to increase their pay that is significantly more than a cost-of-living increase but, according to an outside consulting firm, would bring their salaries more in line with what councillors in similar area communities are being paid. The potential raise also comes while staff is suggesting yet another double-digit property tax increase for 2026.

If adopted, regular councillors would receive a 47.46 per cent raise, while the warden would get a 16.82 per cent pay hike. The biggest change would be in the deputy warden’s salary, which would see a 62.8 per cent increase.
