MADISON, Wis. — Madison police say reckless driving caused a multi-hour closure on the Beltline on Monday. A vehicle also caught on fire.

Police stated two vehicles were spotted racing on the eastbound Beltline, one of which hit an unrelated vehicle, pushing it back into a semi. The unrelated vehicle flipped onto the westbound Beltline, catching fire.

According to the Madison Fire Department, witnesses reported one vehicle on fire, and the fire was extinguished.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said the initial call came at around 11:10 a.m., and all lanes of traffic reopened right before 1 p.m.

No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made as of Monday afternoon. The Madison Police Department will continue to investigate this crash.
