KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Knoxville broke ground on a new greenway connector in Fountain City Monday.
“The celebration is to extend the Sioux Clancy Greenway, which is existing at Adair Park, and bring it over into the rest of Fountain City to be able to go north or south along Broadway,” said Director of Knoxville Parks and Recreation Sherly Ely.
The new extension will run through the ridge line of the Lynnhurst Funeral Home cemetery and the city had to get private land easement to make this project happen.
“The cemetery’s a pretty large area of ground. And it really separates the Greenway Trails that have already been developed. So it’s kind of like the missing link. And so that’s why it’s so critical to make this happen,” said Fred Berry, the market director for the Knoxville area wi
