James Franklin has found his new home.
A little over a month after he was fired by Penn State, the 53-year-old is finalizing a deal to coach Virginia Tech, according to a report from ESPN.
Franklin went 104-45 over 12 seasons as the coach of the Nittany Lions, winning at least 10 games six times. Penn State came close to winning the national championship last season, eventually falling in the College Football Playoff semifinal to Notre Dame.
The Nittany Lions entered this season as the No. 2 team in the country, but it all came crashing down — and fast. After plowing through a weak non-conference slate against Nevada, Florida International and Villanova, Penn State played to a devastating 30-24 double-overtime loss to Oregon.
