AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -Columbia County leaders will hold a hearing Tuesday on a proposed data center project .
The hearing comes after commissioners created a zoning district for data centers earlier this month following months of public debate over the proposed project.
The new zoning district does not immediately change the current zoning map. Leaders said a rezoning of properties would need to go through the normal process approved by commissioners.
In April, the Development Authority applied to rezone nearly 2,000 acres of land. The application was approved in May.
The project would bring about $118 million in revenue to the county.
The hearing will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Evans Government Center Auditorium.
