BRONX (WABC) -- A federal judge has ordered the release of a 16-year-old detained by federal agents in the Bronx.
Joel Camas was taken into custody in October after showing up for his routine check-in with immigration officials.
Camas is an 11th grader at Gotham Collaborative High School in the Bronx.
A judge had given Camas legal protection for minors who are in the U.S. without a parent.
His mother voluntarily returned to Ecuador earlier this year.
