ALBANY — The rate of New York adults diagnosed with prediabetes has more than doubled in the last decade, according to released last week.

Around 14% of adults in the Empire State were diagnosed with prediabetes in 2023, up from 5.4% diagnosed in 2011 — an “alarming increase” of 2 1/2 times in 12 years, according to Dr. James McDonald, the state’s health commissioner.
