Cyber attacks which threaten our access to water, energy and the NHS are costing the UK economy nearly £15bn a year.

That's according to new research published by the government as it sets out plans to protect our critical national infrastructure.

The Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, which was introduced to Parliament this week, promises to strengthen our defences for essential public services by giving regulators new powers over suppliers who will be required to meet minimum security standards.

The government says that the measures will prevent disruption by keeping the taps running, lights on and transport moving.
