A 12 year old schoolgirl tragically died just four weeks after being sectioned at a specialist children's mental health facility, an inquest has heard.

Mia Lucas passed away in January 2024, merely four weeks after her mother Chloe Lucas, 33, sought urgent help for her daughter's sudden mood changes and severe emotional episodes, a coroner's court was told.

Earlier this year her devastated mum said: "Mia was always such a happy girl, and she was unwell for such a short period of her life.

"She didn't need to die and with the right care and treatment, she could have got better."

The previously 'fun, bubbly girl', from Nottingham, began restricting her food intake in September 2023, shortly after beginning secondary school.
