A warning has been issued to dog owners across Coventry and Warwickshire as a yellow ice warning looms. The Met Office has put a yellow warning for ice in place from midnight tonight (November 18) until 11am tomorrow morning.

This is due to the increased risk of ice patches and some hill snow. The cold weather is set to continue until Friday and it has led to the Dogs Trust Kenilworth to make a plea to all dog owners.

It says that rock salt and grit, often used on roads and pavements, can cause health issues including soreness, cracking and burns on dogs' paws and it may lead to dryness, redness or bleeding. Too much salt can also cause stomach problems for dogs.
