Summer transfer target Charlie Hughes has confirmed there was “genuine” interest from Coventry City in trying to sign him from Hull.
The highly-rated Tigers’ centre-back was reported to be the subject of three failed bids from the Sky Blues – the third of which is claimed to have been for £10million – back in August leading into the opening game of the campaign when he helped Sergej Jakirovic’s men to a goalless draw at the CBS Arena where the defender’s talent was there for all to see.
Coventry then switched their attention to Ipswich Town’s Luke Woolfenden, who joined the club on deadline day instead, albeit the 27-year-old has started only two games and made three appearances from the bench.
