West Midlands Police has issued a major update after launching a murder probe into the fatal stabbing of a teenager in Birmingham.

Yassin Alama, 19, was knifed on Hutton Road in Handsworth at around 5.20pm on Sunday, November 16. Detectives are still searching for Oumar Traore, 17, who is wanted for questioning over the murder of Yassin.

But a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in Birmingham at around 1am today, Tuesday, November 18.

In a statement, police said: "We’ve arrested a man on suspicion of helping the suspect wanted over the murder of Yassin Alama, who was stabbed to death in Handsworth on Sunday evening.
