A man has been arrested in Liverpool following a major investigation into Bonfire Night disorder in Edinburgh. ‌

Detectives launched inquiries ahead of Bonfire Night 2025 amid concerns that fireworks were being stockpiled for use in antisocial behaviour and disorder across the Scottish capital. Intelligence led officers to a number of individuals believed to be involved in possessing and selling illicit pyrotechnics. ‌

During the operation, police recovered over a tonne of illegal fireworks in Rosyth on October 27, with further seizures taking the total haul to more than 1,200 kilos. ‌

Police Scotland have confirmed that the investigation later expanded in partnership with Merseyside Police.
