A Louisiana lawmaker was the only person to vote against the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
The House voted overwhelmingly in favor of a bill Tuesday to force the Department of Justice to publicly release its files on convicted sex offender Epstein, a remarkable display of approval for an effort that had struggled for months to overcome opposition from President Donald Trump and Republican leadership. Rep. Clay Higgins voted against the release in a 427-1 vote on the House floor.
Trump, in recent days, also reversed course, advocating for the release of the files.
Higgins issued the following explanation on his social media platforms, explaining the reason behind his decision:
