BENNINGTON — Expect to see more police cruisers in Bennington next week, as local law enforcement will be conducting sobriety checkpoints starting on Nov. 24.

Announced in a press release distributed by the Bennington Police Department (BPD), the checkpoints and additional patrols will continue throughout the Thanksgiving holiday week and "focus on removing impaired drivers from the roadway, seatbelt enforcement, and a reduction in overall vehicle crashes."

The BPD will be joined by state and county law enforcement, they said.

"Motorists are urged to use a designated driver whenever necessary and always wear seatbelts," continued the BPD press release. "Have a safe and happy holiday."
