FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — Mifflin Township trustees had their first meeting since the township’s police levy failed earlier in the month.
A Tuesday’s meeting, trustees came out of executive session saying no decisions were made about the future of the police department. The levy failed by 25 votes on Nov. 4.
Township leaders are now poring over the budget to see how they can keep the township’s police force going.
“The plan we’re trying to put together, formulating, doesn’t disband the police department,” said Trustee Kevin Cavener.
Police Chief David Briggs was at Tuesday’s meeting. He didn’t speak on camera, but told 10TV there wasn’t much that he knew about what was being planned for the future of his department.
Cavener said the levy’s failure came as a surprise to township leadersh
