HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings Police Department has cited a 19-year-old for animal cruelty, unlicensed animals and failure to vaccinate after animals were found living in poor conditions.
A community service officer responded to a home Monday in the 800 block of North Colorado Avenue following a report of animals living in extremely poor conditions and being underweight, police said.
HPD Capt. Jason Haase said there were at least two dogs and a cat at the residence. The animals were covered in urine and feces and infested with fleas.
Two dogs were taken to be examined and later transported to Heartland Pet Connection. A cat remained in the care of a veterinarian for additional treatment.
D’Anthony Moffre, 19, must appear in court because the citation is for a nonwaivable offense
