DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Anxiety is growing in the City of Durham on Tuesday after federal agents were spotted in neighborhoods and shopping centers.

"It's really sad," Nora Browning said. "It's very concerning because we don't know what's going to happen. We don't know how long they're going to be here."

Businesses in Central Durham were either short-staffed or closed on Tuesday, citing for the safety of the Latino community.

"There are definitely employees that didn't show up to work, and that's understandable," Antonio Rivas said. "You show up to work wanting to provide for your family here, or back home, and you just unfortunately can't today because of the fear."
