A firebombing has gone wrong on a Bankstown home after two cars were set alight and the arsonist was seen running down the street on fire in Sydney’s southwest.
Emergency services responded to reports of a car on fire outside a home on Wattle Street, Bankstown, about 12am on Wednesday.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews managed to extinguish the blaze, but two cars were destroyed.
Police officers from the Bankstown Police Area Command have established a crime scene as inquiries continue into the circumstances surrounding the blaze.
A police spokesperson confirmed to SkyNews.com.au that the fire is being treated as suspicious.
“As inquiries are ongoing, anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” NSW Police said in a statement.
