LAS CRUCES, N.M. —
An official date has been set for the federal jury trial against Nancy and Joel Cano, a former New Mexico judge.

The two are facing charges after being accused of illegally harboring a suspected member of the Venezuelan crime organization, Tren de Aragua . The trial comes after the married couple was arrested by ICE in April.
The trial is set to begin on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Court documents show Cristhian Ortega-Lopez got into contact with Nancy Cano after receiving a job to install a glass door to their home. This led to her offering Ortega-Lopez to stay in their casita on the property in April 2024, according to court documents.
