It's been five months since New Castle County Council approved the use of electronic speed enforcement cameras, and their first one may be in use soon.
County Council voted to approve the use of cameras on Milltown and McKennans Church Road in June, but as the months have ticked by, there has been little change.
Councilwoman Dee Durham asked Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Kenny Dunn for an update during a Public Safety Committee meeting on Tuesday.
Dunn said he spoke with a representative from Modaxo, which owns the Elovate camera system used by DelDOT for their I-95 cameras, and the new one on Route 1 in Sussex County, who promised the county would receive a contract to examine early next week.
