WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. — The trial of three former law enforcement officers charged in connection with the 2017 death of Eurie Martin neared its conclusion Tuesday as former Washington County Deputy Rhett Scott took the witness stand to recount the events of July 7, 2017.
Scott testified that he was responding to a call about a suspicious subject when he heard an urgent radio transmission that prompted him to rush to Deep Step Road, where Martin died later that night.
"I got another radio transmission from Michael and his words were '97 step it up,'" Scott told the court. "When he said that on the radio, that's when I turned and put on my blue lights and siren."
