LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The Jefferson County Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday evening on a boundary adjustment to balance enrollment at Echo Trail Middle School.
Echo Trail is operating at 117% of capacity and is projected to reach 133% next school year. Under the plan, new students who live north of I-64 and west of Valhalla Golf Club will attend Crosby Middle School beginning next school year. Crosby is currently at about 75% capacity. Fewer than 100 incoming sixth graders will be affected, and students already enrolled at Echo Trail will not be reassigned.
“It’s unfortunate that some have to move, but you can’t have overcrowded schools,” said Superintendent Brian Yearwood. “We can’t have classrooms that are unsafe or that don’t provide optimal learning conditions.”
