LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After a weeks-long delay and more than a month worth of uncertainty leading up to Thanksgiving, Kentuckians on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are finally receiving their full benefits.
Just after midnight on Nov. 15, Louisville mother of two Tyler Trabue received a $275 deposit in SNAP benefits transferred straight into her account to pay for food. It's the date Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said Kentuckians would start to see full payments hit their electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards.
Trabue told WHAS11 she went straight to the grocery store the next day with her kids.
“Being able to stock up my house again, it felt really, really good," she said. “My daughter likes to make smoothies, so [we got] the big bag of frozen fruit."
