ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Six months after an EF-3 tornado destroyed her home, Demika Williams says she is still struggling to keep her family safe in substandard housing conditions.
Williams lost everything when the tornado ripped through St. Louis on May 16, leaving her and her five children homeless.
“All I could do was cry because everything was destroyed,” Williams said.
After the tornado, the Red Cross assigned Williams a case manager who connected her with landlord Vernon Gentry. Williams now lives in a Tower Grove East home where she showed mold on the ceiling.
“They call themselves spray painting it, and then yesterday when the people came, we noticed we could see it again,” Williams said.
